Melbourne P-plater arrested for doing 193km/h in 80 zone

A Melbourne P-plater has been clocked doing 193km/h along Sydney Road in Melbourne's north - more than 100km/h over the speed limit.

A 21-year-old has had his car impounded by police after he was nabbed driving close to 200 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone.

The P-plater was clocked doing 193km/h along Sydney Road in Melbourne's north on Saturday morning.

His car, which had four bald tyres, was impounded and the man is expected to be charged with exceeding the limit, dangerous speeding and driving an unsafe vehicle.
