Melbourne population 'to overtake Sydney's'

Melbourne's outer suburbs are growing at a faster rate than any other area in Australia and some analysts believe the city's population will eventually exceed that of Sydney.

But the record growth is coming at a cost, with congested roads and over-crowded public transport.

Even health services have come under increasing pressure.
