Melissa George had 'painful' natural birth

Australian actress Melissa George says she is still recovering from an agonising three-day labour after she opted for a natural birth.

Australian actress Melissa George refused painkillers and struggled through a marathon three-day labour to give birth to her son last month.

The 37-year-old Australian actress welcomed baby boy Raphael, her first child with French businessman Jean-David Blanc, in Paris, France on February 6.

George opted for a natural birth and amidts she is still recovering from the agonising ordeal.

"They (the French nurses) said, 'Oh, those Australians are crazy! They are so tough!' I thought that was hilarious," George told Britain's Hello! magazine.

"They had all the instruments ready in case, and I looked at the vacuum and the forceps and thought, 'There is no way on this planet they're coming near me'

"I was in labour for three days."

However, George insists she doesn't regret her choice.

"It was magic and JD (Blanc) was right beside me. It was amazing... I just couldn't believe the body could do that."

The former Home and Away actress is currently starring in the US legal drama The Good Wife.
