Two men have been arrested in relation to the murder of Chinese national Qin Wu at a temple in Sydney's southwest.

The 37-year-old was shot in a Guildford house which was being used as a temple and, allegedly, as a meeting place for drug dealers.

NSW Police on Monday arrested a 45-year-old man from Croydon and a 35-year-old currently in Silverwater jail in relation to the shooting on February 1.

Both are expected to be charged later on Monday with murdering Mr Wu.

Detective Sergeant Justin Moynihan earlier this year said it was possible the Chinese national may have been shot when he intervened in an argument between his friend and a group of men who visited the house.

"At the time of the incident, the house was also being used as a temple, so there were numerous visitors every day," he said at the time.

The Guildford house was the scene of an unrelated murder three years ago, NSW Police have confirmed.

In 2014 Zhen Fang fatally stabbed Ting Huang, 25, whose decomposing body was found wrapped in a doona in a car boot near Rookwood cemetery in Lidcombe.

Fang, 38, was sentenced in March to at least 14 years behind bars for the frenzied knife attack.
