Two men accused of being caught with a four-week-old monkey stolen from a NSW zoo have been charged.

The baby pygmy marmoset, which experts feared would die if separated from its mother for more than a day, was allegedly found in a car southwest of Sydney on Sunday, along with two men, 23 and 26.

They were arrested and taken for questioning before being charged with dealing with proceeds of crime on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the baby's father, Gomez, and its young sister, Sophia, which were also stolen from the Symbio Wildlife Park, on the NSW south coast, on Saturday.

"The whereabouts of the remaining two monkeys is still unknown and police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers immediately," police said.

The baby monkey is on its way home.

"We are assessing the condition of the young, and will re-introduce to mum as soon as possible," Symbio staff posted on social media.

Experts had warned the baby, who was still dependent on its mother, would die if not found by Sunday, while a zookeeper told police its twin, who was left at the zoo, could also die because the mother was too stressed to feed it.
