Mental health support plan for Tas

Mental health support systems in Tasmania will be strengthened under the terms of a long-term plan announced by the state government.

The Tasmanian government has announced a decade-long plan to tackle mental ill-health, highlighting that the way forward should not just focus on more funding.

Health Minister Michael Ferguson on Friday released details of the "road map", designed with the help of community stakeholders, which includes strengthened services for infants, children and young people.

Additional resources will be built into future budgets as necessary, he added.

"But improved mental health is not only about resourcing, it is also about ensuring we have an integrated mental health system that provides support in the right place, at the right time and with clear signposts about where to get help and how."
