Mick Schumacher has claimed his fourth straight Formula Three victory, which has lifted the son of Formula One champion Michael Schumacher to first place in the championship.
Schumacher had his seventh season victory on the Austrian Spielberg course on Saturday ahead of Dallara-Mercedes teammate Robert Schwartzmann of Russia and took the overall lead from Briton Dan Ticktum, who placed eighth on the day in a Dallara-VW.
Schumacher takes an 18-point lead over Ticktum into the final five season races of the European F3 series, two more in Spielberg on Sunday and the three-race season finale in Hockenheim, Germany, in mid-October.
"I am very happy that things are going so well for me since Spa-Franchorchamps (his first season win in late July). I will do everything that it continues this way," the 19-year-old said.
Schumacher's father, Michael, won a record seven F1 world titles, five of them with Ferrari, during his glittering career, which ended in 2012.
