Mick Schumacher wins Italy F4 debut race

Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's son Mick has had a winning debut at Misano in the Italian Formula Four series.

Mick Schumacher, the son of Formula One legend Michael, has had a winning debut in the Italian Formula Four series.

The 17-year-old from the Italian Prema Powerteam won from second place on the grid on Saturday in Misano ahead of Mexican Raul Guzman Marchina and American Manuel Correa Juan.

"That was great; my race speed was simply fantastic," Mick Schumacher said.

Schumacher is competing in the Italian and German F4 racing series, the German season being his second after a 2015 debut.

His father won a record seven F1 world titles and an unprecedented 91 grands prix. Michael Schumacher is continuing his recovery from severe head injuries suffered in December 2013 in a skiing accident in France.
