Star Australia midfielder Vince Grella has sprained his knee at training and is out of the World Cup Group D encounter against Ghana in Rustenburg.

Although Grella is expected to be available to face Serbia for the Socceroos last group clash, the squad is also without midfield general Tim Cahill over his tackles on Bastien Schweinsteiger.

The good news, however, is that Cahill's suspension following his red card would be for one game, not two.

The World Game reports it is not known whom Pim Verbeek will call-up as a replacement for the one-time untouchable veteran.

However, fellow midfielder Marco Bresciano did not start against Germany.
