The rocket attack came as EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton was visiting the Gaza Strip.
The rocket slammed into the Netiv Ha'assera kibbutz, a few kilometres from the Gaza Strip, an army spokeswoman said.
She could not immediately confirm that one man died of his injuries.
"It is the third rocket fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip since Wednesday evening," she said.
