Mildura man in court for people smuggling

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in Victoria on people smuggling charges and is facing a Mildura Court.

Australian Federal Police arrested the 37-year-old on Thursday for alleged involvement in people smuggling between September 2013 and December 2013.

The AFP said it was not appropriate to comment on the case because it was before the court in Mildura but reports say he was allegedly involved in a major syndicate operating from Iraq to Australia.
