Military weapon seized in Vic bikie raids

Raids on bikie gangs across Melbourne have led to the arrest of eight people and the seizure of drugs and firearms, including a military-style gun.

Police have seized a military-style weapon and drugs, and arrested eight people after raids on bikie clubhouses in Melbourne.

After a three-month investigation into drug and weapon trafficking, police raided a makeshift Hells Angels clubhouse at Boronia on Tuesday and searched 11 other properties across the city.

A 34-year-old Balwyn North man and a 27-year-old Tarneit man were arrested at Taylors Lakes.

The pair are believed to be members of the Hells Angels Darkside Chapter in Seaford.

Detective Inspector Ian Campbell said another six people were also arrested.

He said police uncovered more than 700 grams of amphetamines and a large, military-style gun.

Det Insp Campbell said police made no apology for cracking down on bikie gangs.

"If you're actively involved large-scale commercial drug trafficking and firearms trafficking, then Victoria Police will take a very strong stance against you," he told reporters.
