A telecommunications cable has been severed off the coast of Kenya, disrupting services to millions of Internet and phone users in at least nine countries.

Toby Shapshak is the editor of a technology magazine in South Africa.

He's told Santilla Chingaipe how the fibre optic cable was cut by a ship's anchor, in the port of Mombasa.
