Mills prepared for NZ clash

Patty Mills has been delighting fans for years in the NBA and now he's back for the Boomers against New Zealand in their Oceania Championship series starting tomorrow night.

Mills aims to turn Boomers into powerhouse

NBA star Patty Mills is confident the Boomers can claim a podium finish at the World Cup in Spain.

Mills, who has recently signed a $US 1.1 million (A$1.21 million) deal to play with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2013-14 season, has become an important leadership figure on the Australian team.

Coach Andrej Lemanis said a new generation of talent was emerging as the Boomers looked past next year's World Cup and on to the 2016 Olympics.

"They've been great, and it's exciting you know three years out from Rio and you staring thinking what those guys are bringing to the group that's different to what we've had before and that's pretty special," he said.

The Boomers will play their second game against the Tall Blacks in Canberra on Sunday.
