Mills set for more NBA minutes with Spurs

San Antonio's Australian guard Patty Mills is likely to get the chance to shine brighter for the Spurs with NBA star Tony Parker sidelined with a knee injury.

In-form Australian Patty Mills could be in line for more NBA minutes with star San Antonio guard Tony Parker again sidelined with injury.

Mills impressed when Parker missed two games last week, scoring a team-high 23 points in 29 minutes to lift the Spurs over Dallas in his best showing of the year.

He backed up with 28 minutes for 10 points and eight assists in another win over Washington before a quiet outing against Milwaukee as Parker returned from injury on Monday (Tuesday AEDT).

But 34-year-old Parker is expected to be out for an extended period with a knee problem that forced him off early in the victory over the Bucks.

Mills has approached career-best form this season, averaging 11 points from 23.5 minutes per game this season, with the Spurs second in the Western Conference standings.
