Some 1200 kilometres northwest of Adelaide, an Aboriginal school is celebrating a milestone.

A young man called Mark Campbell is set to become the first student to complete his high school education at the tiny community of Mimili on the APY Lands.

The accomplished dancer and traditional healer has just sat his final exams, and even though he doesn't have his results yet, he's gone to Yulara to seek a traineeship.

Mimili School Principal Louka Parry told Karen Ashford that Mr Campbell's paving the way for more Aboriginal students to stay on country to complete their schooling.
