Miner dies in Queensland work accident

Another worker has died at a Queensland mine, taking the number of similar deaths to six on the last 12 months.

A mine worker has been killed in central Queensland taking to six the number of mining and quarry worker deaths in the state in the past 12 months.

Queensland Mines Minister Anthony Lynham says he has been told of the death of a mine worker at Baralaba, believed to be overnight, and another serious incident at Collinsville on Sunday morning.

"I am extremely distressed and concerned that there has been six mining and quarry worker deaths in the last 12 months," Dr Lyneham says.
