Retailer and coal producer Wesfarmers has suspended operations at its Curragh North mine due to flooding in Central Queensland.
The company says some access roads to Blackwater have been closed, preventing a significant number of employees from returning to work following the Christmas holidays, and all mining operations at Curragh North have been suspended including the Curragh North conveyor.
A number of coal producers in Central Queensland have reported production problems due to the flooding rains, described as the worst in 50 years.
