A mining industry group says many companies are afraid to advertise positions specifically for Indigenous candidates, amid what it describes as ambiguities in anti-discrimination laws.
It has made a submision to a federal government Indigenous jobs review, calling for clarification of anti-discrimination laws, to allow companies to advertise specifically for Indigenous candidates.
The review is being led by mining magnate, Andrew Forrest.
Scott Barklamb, from the Australian Mines and Metals Association, told Naomi Selvaratnam it's not clear whether employers can advertise specifically for Indigenous employees.
