Trade Minister Simon Birmingham has dismissed suggestions the $15 billion free trade deal with Europe could be in jeopardy by Australia's actions on climate change.
Senator Birmingham says the government will "fulfil our obligations" to the Paris Agreement following reports any deal would be dependent on meeting climate change targets.
He said the government was on track to "meet and exceed" the Paris commitments, despite calls from conservative MPs, led by former prime minister Tony Abbott, to abandon the agreement.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters on Saturday the government's Paris targets haven't changed.
Australia will meet with the EU again in November for a second round of negotiations over the trade deal.
"We look forward to having discussions with the European Union and the potential there and the importance of ensuring we progress with those trade discussions," Senator Birmingham told Sky News on Sunday.
"Look at the track record, judge us not just by what we say, but what we do in terms of outcomes that are being achieved.
"Our trade commitments, our approach in terms of global engagement, Australia abides by global rules ... and we encourage and work with other other nations for them to do likewise."
