Sei Young Kim made two eagles in a six-under 66 on Friday in the JTBC Founders Cup to take a two-stroke lead into the weekend at the LPGA Tour event at Desert Ridge.

The 23-year-old South Korean player has a tournament-record 15-under 129 total at the halfway mark of the tournament after she opened with a 63 on Thursday.

After a 300-yard drive on the par-five 15th, her 165-yard approach nearly bounced into the hole and settled seven-feet past the cup to set up the second eagle. On the par-five second she made a 30-foot eagle putt.

"I feel not bad because, before the first round, I was like uncomfortable because I couldn't trust myself," Kim said.

"But after this round, I got confidence."

Kim won three times last season and was the LPGA Tour's rookie of the year.

Kim leads from American Brittany Lang, who shot a four-under 68 to back up her opening round 63 and is 13-under for the tournament.

Jacqui Concolino and Italy's Giulia Sergas are 12-under the card.

Concolino shot a 64 to match 17-year-old amateur Hannah O'Sullivan for the best round of the day.

Australia's Minjee Lee is tied for seventh after shooting a second round of three-under, 69 to be level with a host of players at ten-under the card.

New Zealand world No.1 Lydia Ko was on track to shoot a 64 of her own before making bogey at the last.

She finished the day with a seven-under 65 and is eight shots off the pace at seven-under.

The cut was at 3 under, one off the tour record set last year in the Manulife.

Hall of Famer Karrie Webb, the 2011 and 2014 winner, dropped out along with second-ranked Inbee Park, Michelle Wie and Suzann Pettersen.
