A poor back nine may prove very costly for Australian youngster Minjee Lee at the LPGA Tour's Blue Bay tournament in China.

Lee was right in the hunt early in the third round before carding three bogeys and a double bogey after the turn.

Her four-over-par 76 took her to four-over 220, still only four shots behind joint leaders Candie Kung of Taiwan (73) and Sei Young Kim of South Korea (74).

But she had 10 players ahead of her on a packed leaderboard heading into the final round on Sunday.

Kung and Lee led by a shot from American Stacy Lewis.
