A minute's silence is to be observed before every soccer match around the world on the weekend in the wake of the air tragedy that struck Brazilian team Chapecoense, the ruling body FIFA said on Friday.
FIFA said in a statement the Bureau of the FIFA Council has also asked all players to wear black armbands at the games.
The plane bringing the Chapecoense team to the first leg game of the Copa Sudamericana final crashed shortly before landing in Medellin, Colombia, with 19 Chapecoense players, coaches and officials among the 71 dead. Only three players survived the crash.
FIFA said that its president Gianni Infantino, who spoke of "a very, very sad day for football", would be at the collective funeral at Chapeco stadium later on Friday. Brazilian President Michel Temer and national team coach Tite are also to attend.
