Miranda Kerr marries Snapchat billionaire

Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel had tears in their eyes when they exchanged vows.

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr looked like a princess and had tears in her eyes when she married Snapchat billionaire Evan Spiegel during an intimate ceremony in the backyard of their $US12 million Los Angeles home.

Under high security, about 40 friends and family members, including many who flew in from Australia, were picked up by limousines at various LA locations and driven to the Brentwood home for Saturday afternoon's nuptials.

The wedding ceremony took 20 minutes, the guests cheered at its conclusion and Kerr looked like a "natural princess".

"The vows were beautiful," a wedding guest, noting Kerr and Spiegel both had tears in their eyes, told E! News.

Kerr, 34, and Spiegel, 26, the American co-founder of messaging app Snapchat who has a personal worth estimated at $US4 billion, began dating in 2015 and became engaged last year.

"For a small wedding, it has been a huge production," a source told People magazine.

"The wedding and reception are intimate, but lavish and classy.

"Miranda has been very involved."

The wedding, according to E! News, began with guests served cocktails in an open air backyard tent and a pianist played When You Wish Upon a Star.

A string quartet also played, while the decor at the reception was described as rustic chic with farmhouse tables, white benches and chairs and light pink garden roses.

"Everything was done elegantly," a guest said.

Kerr announced their engagement last year with an Instagram post that included a photo of her diamond ring, a Bitmoji cartoon and the words: "I said yes!!!"

It is Kerr's second marriage.

She wed English Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom in 2010, they had a son Flynn in 2011 but announced their split in 2013.
