Missing elderly Qld hitchhiker found

A Queensland man reported missing has been found safe, but police are still searching for a woman last seen in the state's southeast months ago.

An elderly hitchhiker reported missing from his central Queensland home has been found safe, police say.

John Henry Marks, 71, was spotted on the side of a road near his home town of Dysart, southwest of Mackay, on Saturday night.

Mr Marks, who can't speak or hear, hadn't been seen for a number of days when he was reported missing on Saturday and there were concerns he may attempt to hitchhike towards the Darling Downs.

Meanwhile, police are still appealing for any sightings of missing woman Amanda Stallan who hasn't made contact with her family for more than two months.

The 30-year-old, who could be in Victoria and may be travelling with a man, was last seen at Dalby in the Darling Downs on August 6.
