Missing man rescued in WA outback

A spotter plane has found a missing 61-year-old tradesman in remote Western Australia, two days after he was expected to arrive in the town of Laverton.

A 61-year-old tradesman has been found after being stranded for two days in Western's Australia's remote Goldfields region almost 1000km from Perth.

A search plane spotted Barry John Fraser waving from the tray of his truck.

He had been travelling from Tjuntjuntjara to Laverton in the Goldfields region on Sunday but failed to arrive.

WA police said on Tuesday they were working out how to best co-ordinate a safe rescue.

Heavy rain has been recorded in the area, which could affect the unsealed roads linking isolated communities.
