Missing SA fisherman's body found

South Australian authorities have found the body of a 93-year-old fisherman who had been missing since Saturday afternoon.

A 93-year-old war veteran has died while fishing alone off South Australia's Yorke Peninsula.

Stan Alford's body was found off the coast of Port Broughton just after 8.30am on Sunday, not long after a search resumed.

He'd been missing since Saturday afternoon when another fisherman found his empty boat adrift in Fisherman Bay.

Police, the local SES and CFS, local fishermen and volunteers started searching for Mr Alford around 4pm on Saturday before suspending it.

His family said Mr Alford often went fishing by himself.

"He just lived his life to the fullest, loved his fishing and we'd like to say thank you to all the rescue teams today. They've done an amazing job," a family member told Ten News.
