A missing Melbourne mum's dog has been found safe in a neighbour's yard after it was last spotted with the woman hours after the AFL grand final.

Elisa Curry, 42, is believed to have set off for a run with the black labrador at 10.30pm on Saturday night at Aireys Inlet, south of Geelong.

The dog was found about 6pm on Monday in a neighbour's backyard, police say.

Search crews continue to look for the Surrey Hills mum-of-three who was in contact with her family on the night she went missing.

"It's odd that she was communicating with family as of 10.30pm but has not been seen since," Senior Sergeant Robert Wilby told News Corp.

"We know she has a mobile (phone) but it's not at the home. It's going straight to message bank."

Ms Curry's belongings remain at the holiday home from where she left, police say.

"Investigators believe that Elisa may have gone for a run and has become disorientated," police said in a statement.

Air and land searches by police and SES volunteers have failed to find Ms Curry.

The search resumed at 8am on Monday and police released an image of her in the hope someone recognises her and calls triple-zero.
