Mitch Marsh is ready to step up as Australia's third seamer during the three-Test series against Sri Lanka if required.
The turning sub-continental pitches could see Australian selectors opt to play both Nathan Lyon and Stephen O'Keefe in at least some of the matches, meaning allrounder Marsh could be called upon a little earlier than usual.
And it's a challenge Marsh, who has now played 15 Tests, is more than willing to accept.
"If we've got two spinners I'll probably bowl a little bit more with the newer ball being the third seemer," said Marsh in Colombo ahead of the first Test in Kandy starting on July 26.
"It's always nice in these conditions to bowl when the ball is a little bit harder and potentially swinging a little bit.

"If I get a chance with the new ball hopefully I can take a few wickets for us."
Marsh has only twice before fulfilled the role of third seamer.
The first was on debut three years ago in Dubai against Pakistan, and again against the West Indies at the SCG earlier this year.
However on that second occasion he was only required to bowl four overs as rain ruined the match.
Regardless, Marsh can't see his attacking style changing, given it has netted him 25 wickets at a strike rate of 58.6.
"I'll be attacking the stumps as much as I can with fields that allow me to bowl like that," he said.
