New Parramatta halfback Mitchell Moses admits he felt a weight lifted off his shoulders when he eventually secured a mid-season NRL release from Wests Tigers.

And it's already showing in his football ahead of Friday's clash with the Warriors and former Eels' halfback Kieran Foran.

Moses fronted the media as an Eel for the first time on Tuesday, but largely refused to talk about his controversial exit from the Tigers a fortnight ago.

However when probed on his welfare, which his manager Isaac Moses claimed was a concern during the exit talks, the playmaker admitted he immediately felt more at ease on his arrival at Parramatta.

"It was tough," Moses said of his last month at the Tigers.

"Once I got to Parra I felt a lot more comfortable once that stuff was sorted."

Moses turned in one of his best games of the season - as an Eel or Tiger - in Parramatta's 22-16 win over South Sydney on Friday night.

A far cry from the player who missed eight tackles and had zero runs against the Rabbitohs in his last game for the Tigers just a fortnight earlier, Moses was everywhere for the Eels.

He had a hand in two of their tries as he took on the line each time, something coach Brad Arthur has been pushing for from the 22-year-old.

Moses said while the shift had been made even harder given his centric role on the field, he was already beginning to feel more comfortable in the No.7 Parramatta jersey.

"It's a lot different for a half," he said.

"You've got to learn all the sets and things like that.0

"Brad didn't expect much from me the first week I was there. I only had two sessions under my belt before we played.

"But just learning some of the plays and being able to call plays on the run, it definitely felt a lot more comfortable this week."
