Mixed bag at judiciary for NBL brawlers

Adelaide's Brendan Teys has had a week shaved from his suspension for fighting but Perth's Dexter Kernich-Drew will still miss two NBL games.

Adelaide's Brendan Teys has won a charge downgrade but Perth's Dexter Kernich-Drew will still have to serve a two-match suspension following an ugly melee between the NBL sides last Friday night.

Independent Tribunal Chair Andrew Coleman heard appeals by the pair on Wednesday evening to their two game bans arising from the stoush, which overshadowed Perth's 21-point win at Perth Arena.

Teys' charge of unduly rough play was downgraded from high impact to medium impact, resulting in his suspension being reduced to one game.

He will miss the 36ers' game against Illawarra on Sunday.

Kernich-Drew's appeal was dismissed and his two-game suspension will stand.

He will miss the Wildcats' next two games against Cairns and Melbourne.

Ten other players from both teams were offered $375 fines for their roles in the incident.
