Sydney Roosters prop Sam Moa has lauded the NRL club's decision to extend coach Trent Robinson's contract, but isn't sure it will help him land a new deal himself.
With incumbent Kangaroos star James Tamou seemingly on his way to Penrith, Moa is arguably the best front-rower without a club for the 2017 season.
The New Zealand representative praised the Roosters for tying down premiership-winning coach Robinson until the end of 2019, and is hopeful he can stay as well.
"Obviously you want to play for a good coach at a good club, and I don't think there's a better club than the Sydney Roosters," Moa said.
"But if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. They've got a lot of good players coming through."
The 29-year-old, who is averaging 100 metres in just 38 minutes per game this season, expected to meet with his manager this week and was hopeful of announcing his future.
"Ideally I'd like to stay. I'm actually expecting a phone call from my manager in a couple of days to discuss certain options and then we'll go from there," he said.
"But it's a massive coup for the club having Trent re-sign. I was pretty sure before that he wasn't going anywhere. He loves this club as much as anyone else.
"They're going to make a plan now to keep this club where it should be, up there at the top."
Other off-contract props this year include Melbourne's Kenny Bromwich, South Sydney firebrand Nathan Brown, North Queensland's Ben Hannant, and Cronulla veteran Sam Tagataese.
