Mobility scooter hit by truck on busy hwy

An elderly man has been hospitalised after a mobility scooter was hit by a truck outside a police station on a major West Australian highway.

A man, aged in his 90s, is in hospital after a mobility scooter was hit by a truck on a major highway.

The crash occurred outside Mundaring police station on Wednesday on the Great Eastern Highway, east of Perth, with westbound road closures in place.

The elderly gopher-driver has been taken to Royal Perth Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries, St John's Ambulance says.

The posted speed limit in the area is 50km/h.
