Monkey experiments under scrutiny

An independent inquiry in Britain has found that one in ten experiments on monkeys serve no useful scientific purpose.

The report recommends better screening of research projects and transparency of test results so that monkeys are not used unnecessarily.

Animal welfare groups say that the report's findings are chilling.
