Wallabies captain and hooker Stephen Moore has been rested from Queensland's Super Rugby game against the Blues on Friday in Samoa.

Moore will remain in Brisbane for the week, with coach Nick Stiles overseeing the 34-year-old front-rower's workload.

"When we signed Stephen for three years, we knew we'd have to manage his workload to ensure his longevity," Stiles said.

"He's an experienced player in an attritional position and we always planned for moments like this in the season where we'd provide him the opportunity to freshen up."

On Friday, Moore equalled New Zealander Keven Mealamu's record as the second-most capped Super Rugby player, notching his 175th appearance.
