Bruce and Denise Morcombe will end their child safety road trip across Queensland in Cairns today.

The couple have spent the last week speaking to thousands of school children about the alleged abduction and murder of their son Daniel.

The tour which had been planned for months, began in Brisbane last Sunday, a week after DNA tests confirmed bones found in bushland on the Sunshine Coast belonged to their son.

Daniel was 13 when he disappeared from a Sunshine Coast bus stop in 2003. A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder over Daniel's death.
