Two more men have been charged over a violent clash between protesters during a Melbourne visit by controversial British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos.

Several hundred police officers, with dozens in riot gear, were forced to break up a clash between left and right-wing activists outside the Kensington venue where Yiannopoulos appeared on December 4.

During the clash that led to five officers being injured, two protesters were arrested, one from each side.

On Tuesday, two men were charged with affray and assault offences, a 33-year-old Surrey Hills man and a 48-year-old Eltham man.

The men were bailed to appear with two other men at Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 8.

Victoria Police said in a statement their investigations continue, with further arrests expected.

Yiannopolous, 33, toured Australia in December after resigning from conservative website Breitbart News after seemingly suggesting it was acceptable for older men to sleep with teenage boys.

After the violent clash, Yiannopoulos blamed the "petulant babies" of the left for the "kerfuffle" in an attempt to stop "freedom of speech".
