More charges over Vic autistic teen attack

Further charges have been laid over the alleged bashing of a Melbourne boy with autism, with two teenage boys set to face court.

Two more teenagers have been charged over the alleged bashing of an autistic boy outside a Melbourne school.

The 14-year-old was hospitalised after the alleged attack outside Northcote High School on Tuesday, and a 15-year-old Reservoir boy charged with affray, and recklessly and intentionally causing injury.

Another two boys, aged 14 and 16, were later charged with similar offences as well as weapons offences.

It comes after video of the alleged attack circulated on social media and news outlets, sparking condemnation by Premier Daniel Andrews and Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton.

Carmen Lahiff-Jenkins told 3AW her son, Quinn, had been pushed from his bike and beaten with "massive" 60cm spanners, while passers-by failed to intervene.

"It's the worst nightmare of most parents who have an autistic child," she told the radio station on Thursday.

The three teens charged over the incident have been bailed and are due to face a children's court at a later date.
