Further financial deregulation could lead to trouble, the Reserve Bank has warned.
RBA head of financial stability Luci Ellis says that, unlike Australia, the US financial crisis in 2007 was influenced by the country further deregulating their already liberalised financial system.
"If you find a way to deregulate a second time, for example by reversing a subsequent tightening or finding a new part of the system to liberalise, you might be courting trouble," she said at the Financial Risk Day 2016 Conference in Sydney on Thursday.
