Victoria has recorded four fresh cases of measles in the past week, with three men and a woman receiving treatment for the infectious disease.

A public health alert was issued on Wednesday as three new, unrelated cases were confirmed, with each patient having contracted the disease while overseas.

A woman in her 40s and two men aged in their 30s and 40s are being treated in hospital.

The latest cases follow news from Thursday that a man in his 40s in the Bendigo region had been struck down by the disease.

"There is a lot of measles circulating in our region currently, including much of South East and Southern Asia. All travellers need to be aware of this risk," acting Chief Health Officer Angie Bone said in a statement.

Patients linked to the latest three cases may have been infectious while at public places including Melbourne Airport's terminal one and two, and at various shops, hotels and eateries across the Ballarat region between April 29 and Saturday.
