More stable south-eastern weather coming

Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra have experienced the coldest start to summer in more than four decades.

Melbourne's been unseasonably wet and Darwin and Queensland face possible cyclones.

But the Bureau of Meteorology has allayed fears of another summer punctuated by natural disasters, predicting a return to more stable weather patterns.
