More than 1500 homes remain without power in Victoria in the aftermath of wild winds and rain.
Powerlines were affected as peak gusts of up to 110km/h downed trees and disrupted power for around 3000 during Friday.
Homes in Melbourne's outer east, including Warburton Boronia and Healsville, are the worst hit.
Power company AusNet Services says most customers will have their power restored by Friday night.
The SES has received about 270 calls for assistance since Thursday as the winds picked up, mostly over tree branches blocking roads and damage to homes.
Winds reached 104km/h at Tullamarine Airport in the morning, but did not affect flights, an airport spokesman said.
A section of the Great Ocean Road will remain closed for at least a day over the threat of landslides after more movement was detected in an unstable hill near Wye River.
Geotechnical experts are monitoring the situation, while the 12 Apostles can be accessed via Forrest, Colac and Camperdown.
Rain replaced the strong winds on Friday, but Victorians most felt the shift in temperature.
From a top of 20C, Melbourne hovered around 11C for most of the day.
The rain and wintry weather will continue into Saturday ahead of the Cox Plate, the Bureau of Meteorology warns.
"It will be the equal coldest running of the Cox Plate in its history," senior forecaster Scott Williams told AAP.
The bureau expects to revise its forecast from 15C down to 13C for Saturday, Mr Williams said.
Hail and thunder might dampen the festivities at Moonee Valley as well.
Flood warnings have been issued for the greater Melbourne and East Gippsland catchments as the rain band passes through.
The BOM also cancelled its severe weather warning on Friday as the winds eased.
It is the third severe weather event in as many weeks.
Last Sunday around 1000 homes in Melbourne's east woke to no power, while the week before, a woman died when a tree fell on her home after destructive winds.
