More Vic firies headed to NSW

Victoria has sent more fire crews to help battle the NSW bushfires.

More Victorian fire crews are heading to NSW to assist with the ongoing bushfire emergency.

An extra 25 CFA tankers - crewed by 180 firefighters - have been deployed to the Blue Mountains after requests for additional support.

Victorian Fire Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley said the CFA would be ready to assist with the increased fire danger forecast for Wednesday.

"CFA firefighters will continue to provide strike teams to assist local crews fighting fires in the Blue Mountains," he said.

A further 10 MFB pumpers and 40 firefighters have also been sent as a contingency and will operate in the greater Sydney area.

The state's initial 120-strong response crew returned home on Tuesday after three days battling blazes in NSW.

Victoria has sent more than 55 fire trucks and over 400 firefighters to aid in the crisis.
