Treasurer Scott Morrison has admitted there were very serious issues in the 2014 Abbott-government's budget that Labor drew upon in the election campaign.

He echoed Malcolm Turnbull's conclusion that the coalition needs to rebuild the public's trust in its health policy, questioning how Labor's "lie" over Medicare was able to take root.

When asked about the impact of the 2014 budget, Mr Morrison told ABC radio: "There were some very serious issues there which I think they drew on in the campaign and they pointed to in the campaign".
