An activist group that unsuccessfully lobbied Immigration Minister Scott Morrison to revoke rap star Snoop Dogg's visa is now calling for him to ban Eminem.
Collective Shout, which campaigns against violence against women, says the federal government should follow New Zealand's lead and ban rap stars that have allegedly incited violence through their lyrics.
New Zealand on Thursday banned rap collective Odd Future from performing as a support act to Eminem in Auckland.
"I commend New Zealand for caring more about women than Australia seems to right now," Collective Shout's Talitha Stone said in a statement.
The group has written a letter to the minister arguing that granting Eminem entry to perform a series of local concerts "makes a mockery" of the commonwealth's national plan to reduce violence against women and children.
The rap star is due to kick off his tour in Melbourne on February 19.
The petition has been backed with signatures from dozens of women's rights organisations.
Ms Stone unsuccessfully lobbied Mr Morrison last month to revoke Snoop Dogg's visa for the same reasons.
