Morrison calls for legalising gay marriage

The 2016 Australian of the Year David Morrison wants the issue around marriage equality resolved sooner rather than later.

Australian of the Year David Morrison wants the nation to legalise same-sex marriage.

Mr Morrison hopes the issue is resolved sooner rather than later, either through a referendum or a plebiscite.

"I do believe in same-sex marriage but I respect the fact that there are many Australians who still are yet to be moved in that regard," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.
