Morrison criticises ABC pay deal

Treasurer Scott Morrison has joined cabinet colleagues in criticising the ABC for striking a pay deal with its staff that breaches government guidelines.

Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison has criticised the ABC for striking a pay deal with its staff that breaches the government's bargaining rules.

Public Service Commissioner John Lloyd already has expressed his "utmost concern" about the wage rise and extra conditions, which includes domestic violence leave, noting fellow public broadcaster SBS complies with the pay policy.

"Every time we tell the ABC to tighten its belt they say that Peppa Pig has got to go off air, but when it comes to these sorts of arrangements they seem to be able to find the money," Mr Morrison told Ray Hadley on 2GB radio on Monday.
