Treasurer Scott Morrison is in Hong Kong for meetings on financial services technology before heading to a G20 gathering in Shanghai.

The weekend meetings of finance ministers and central bankers will be the first under China's 2016 G20 presidency.

"In this time of considerable volatility in the global economy, I look forward to meeting with my international counterparts to discuss the global economic outlook, the major challenges we all face and what we can do to respond in an evermore connected global economy," he said in a statement.
