Morrison heading to US for IMF meeting

Treasurer Scott Morrison will to attend the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank and plans to catch up with his G20 counterparts.

Treasurer Scott Morrison is heading to Washington to attend the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings.

The treasurer says the October 7-8 meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss the significant downside risks facing the global economy.

Mr Morrison will also attend a G20 finance ministers and central bankers working dinner and meet with the head of sovereign ratings at Standard & Poor's in New York.
