Scott Morrison believes he's bringing voters back to the coalition on his unofficial election campaign bus and plane tour of Queensland.
The prime minister was in Rockhampton to announce $800 million for a local ring road project, but also met with voters at a pub on the Sunshine Coast.
"I had a family come up to me and said 'you know I walked away from the LNP, and I'm back now, I'm back 100 per cent'," Mr Morrison told reporters in Queensland on Wednesday.
"Queensland LNP supporters and members and voters are coming back to the Liberal and National parties."
Mr Morrison is touring Queensland on a "ScoMo Express" bus and a VIP plane.
He is using the trip to make funding announcements, meet voters, and to hold fundraisers for the coalition's election campaign.
"We're raising funds for our campaign to make sure Bill Shorten never becomes prime minister in the country," Mr Morrison said.
But Mr Morrison is also dealing with falling polls, with an Essential poll released on Tuesday showing coalition's primary vote has fallen to 36 per cent, while Labor has climbed to 39 per cent.
The prime minister brushed off criticism of his government as "Canberra bubble talk".
"I don't focus on the narks in Canberra, I focus on families here in Rockhampton," he said.
"Politics is not a soap opera and shouldn't be, it's about serious issues like roads and hospitals and education and a strong economy."
Labor leader Mr Shorten is expected to spend several days in Western Australia, where he will hold a number of "town hall" style meetings.
